Field Notes

Description:

Similar to the Downy except the Hairy is much larger and the bill is almost the same length as the width of the head. More black on the shoulder and wings and there is no spotting on the white edge feathers.

Habitat:

This was found in a riparian, creek with mostly willow species.

Notes:

This a female and the male not far but couldn't get a photo. There a few calling along with Nuttall's species
