Field Notes

Description:

Herbaceous perennial that resembles the wild strawberry. The leaves are tripartite, greenish, toothed and the flowers white to pink. The stems are covered by long hair. Much like the wild strawberry (Fragaria vesca) but distinguished by the red-purple calyx.

Habitat:

It grows in deciduous forests all over central and southern Europe. Spotted in mount Chortiatis (Thessaloniki, Greece).

Notes:

Greek name: Ποτεντίλλη η μικρανθής.
