Field Notes

Description:

Largest grebe in North America, the Western Grebe could be confused with the Clark's Grebe. This individual is possibly a hybrid Western/Clark's because of the grey plumage around the eye. Clark's has white and Western has black. The bill indicates Western I think.

Habitat:

Found swimming in the San Diego Harbour around Shelter Island.
