Description:

Small, 1.5 cm, Katydid. This one is a female with short wings and brightly striped black and white antennae. These live on a low-growing bush covered in long spines, which hurt for several minutes if they puncture the skin. The katydid matches the plant perfectly except for a brown stripe down the the center of the abdomen. Family Tettigoniidae.

Habitat:

Roadside bushes, highway between San Cristobal de Las Casas y Tuxtla Gutierrez, Km. 11.5.
