Field Notes

Description:

Small bird approx 20cm body length. When nesting they blend well into their surrounds.

Habitat:

Nesting along the beach above high tide at Whangamata, New Zealand. Nest is merely a depression in the sand.

Notes:

A section of the beach is cordoned-off so the Dotterels/Plovers can nest undisturbed. Numbers are slowing increasing, due to management of breeding programs.
