Field Notes

Description:

Elongated body with bushy tail.

Habitat:

Patch of land lying vacant for decades between two houses that are occupied. A place where sometimes trash is discarded. Urban residential area (last photo shows the habitat). I was walking past when I saw a movement. There were two of them...and my red jacket must have been a red flag because both scooted...after a bit one of them came out to scout.

Notes:

I see mongooses in my locality from time to time.

Thank you, thewndrr. Good wishes for getting great shots next time you meet them.
Beautiful series SukanyaDatta, I tried to get photos of them from Sri Lanka, but they're very wary. Maybe next time :)
