Description:
Once endangered due to DDT, there were no ospreys in San Diego when I lived there (off and on) from 67 through 84, or when I visited up throughthe 90's and early 2000's. Saw several on this trip, although none as easy to access as this pair on a nest in Mission on Santa Clara pt, next to the rec ctr, between the tennis court and the rec building.

The first photo was due to my handling of my long lens.... it's still a cool shot with the bird's mouth open as he called to his mate
Urban wildlife is one of my favorite pursuits
