Field Notes

Description:

The solitary puff ball was about 55 mm across with an outer skin that was split into recurved lobes exposing a dark brown mass of spores. In the inset is a stalked young fruiting body with a cracked outer skin indicating its maturity.

Habitat:

Spotted on damp ground under eucalyptus trees. There were a few others well separated from each other.
