Most of the time these water snakes are too tucked away where I find them, or would flee if I got close enough to take a picture. Believe me, I'd much rather get a picture without smelling like whatever they secrete. Though I'm used to handling these after catching so many.
Handling Nerodias can also be an unpleasant experience. Once you get to know your way around here and view other members' collections, I think you'll find that some of the best spottings, that have a lot of likes and win the Spotting of the Day awards, are truly focused on the organism with very few of them having hands or any part of a human in the spotting.
