Description:

This is a medium-small (20 cm in length) short-legged and short-necked wader from the family Scolopacidae (Sandpipers). Brownish above (including throat, chest and head) with white belly and vent. The shoulder is also white, which helps when IDing the bird, and separating the Common from a Green Sandpiper.

Habitat:

Seen on marshy lands around small salty lakes on archipelago of Embiez (mediterranean environment, French Riviera).
