Field Notes

Description:

This little flower is one of my favorites because it seems to have little purple ears! The flower is tubular, greenish-yellow and about 3 cm long. The two little purple-pink petals are very small and the only source of bright color. The pistal and stamen are also pink.

Habitat:

Forest floor, about 5 km up Mt. Huitepec, west of San Cristobal de Las Casas, Chiapas, Mexico.
