Description:

This caterpillar (photos 1-3) feeds on several species of Cassia, before start its last metamorphosis, closing itself in a cocoon (photo 4) to changing into a butterfly, when it leaves its cocoon empty (photo 5).

Habitat:

Open lowland sites such as gardens, forest edges, parks, road edges.

Notes:

The town of the coordinates (lat: -22.537780, long: -43.228490) that I used for search, is not DUQUE DE CAXIAS, as reports the search map tool of this page, but PETRÓPOLIS, as shown here:<br><br>
