Field Notes

Description:

A new generation of Marsh frog has arrived - tiny frogs: on pics N° 1 to 4, these two were about 15 mm in length; the one on pic 5 was a bit bigger, 22 to 25 mm; and finally, I guess an adult on a click N° 6 - looked liked a well formed adult; over 5cm in length, rather 6 to 7... All of these were of the same dark green color with darker, blackish blotches on backs. However, the presence and the visibility of dorsal lines not the same.

Habitat:

Marsh frog is native to Europe, and widespread within its range. It is water-dwelling, and can be seen around lakes, rivers, ponds or marshes. In my experience, this must be the most common and widely present frog in our area - I've seen them in every pond or marsh here. This spotting, in a small protected pond, outskirts of a small town in Geneva suburbs, Swiss-French border.
