Field Notes

Habitat:

This Luzon Grass Dart was spotted, in our backyard, resting on Sweet potato (Ipomoea batatas), known as Kamote in the Philippines. Plant information from - http://www.stuartxchange.org/Kamote.html.....

Notes:

Hesperiidae; Hesperiinae; Taractrocera luzonensis luzonensis Staudinger, 1889. This beautiful Luzon Grass Dart is endemic to the Philippines. In the part of the Philippines where I live, this ssp. can be seen throughout the year, but it is much more abundant during the rainy season when the wild grasses are growing tall and the rice crops are ideal hosts for their larvae.
