Field Notes

Description:

This American White Ibis is showing off the bright red beak and legs that he puts on for mating season. The color contrast with his bright white feathers is striking. He is seen in my backyard and wading in the canal water looking for fish.

Habitat:

Along an inland fresh water canal in western Boca Raton, FL

Notes:

Ibis sometimes try to eat the seeds that I leave out for the other birds, but appear to struggle to do so with their long curved beaks. I occasionally hear them making rude grunting noises.
