Description:

I always find these large wading birds at this refuge. Nice wispy plumage on this one. In pic 4 it looks like it is mimicking wood debris.

Habitat:

Spotted foraging at the Billy Frank Jr. Nisqually National Wildlife Refuge. Estuary of the Nisqually River. Outgoing tide, soon to be mud flats.
