Leptophyes punctatissima

Field Notes
Description:
A Speckled Bush-Cricket. I believe this is a male.
As the name suggests, the green body is covered in tiny black spots, it also has a pale brown stripe down its back. Normally 9-18mm in length. Adult females have a large, upturned, scimitar-shaped appendage at their rear - this is an ovipositor used to deposit eggs.
Habitat:
Found inside the house. Usually found in woodland, hedgerows, scrub and gardens.
Notes:
We've had two of these inside the house in recent weeks. This was a particularly large one, the body being about 2cm with incredibly long antennae (9-10cm) in relation to the rest. Leg spread a good 4.5cm or so.
