Field Notes

Description:

Large flower head, 2-3" wide, with a brown button-like center surrounded by daisy like yellow petals. Leaf is long, slender, toothless, very hairy.

Habitat:

Spotted on Tamarac NWR near the Visitor Center. It grows in dry, open fields, prairies and deciduous woods.

Notes:

Also called Brown-eyed Susan. Its seeds make a good food source for Goldfinches and House Finches.
