35.3851, -91.6317
Field Notes
Description:
This is a jelly roll group called a jelly fungus. It has a gelatinous texture.
Habitat:
Found in the eastern part of the United States, a wooded area and usually after a rain or wet time of the year.
Notes:
It is an edible type even though others don't see it that way because it is rare and the looks of it doesn't appeal to people. It can be eaten raw or cooked, usually not a flavor but you can add it to soups or salads. It can be saute, spices and salt, let it absorbs these for awhile and add it to you broth, food, etc. The benefits have not been researched much but that family is usually in proteins and fats but it can also be for lowering blood pressure so caution may need to be order in that for those with low pressure.
