Field Notes

Description:

Large white sea bird with black tips on its wings and a rusty coloration of its head. The eyes and beak are distinctly outlined in black, against the white coloration.

Habitat:

Bass Rock. A volcanic rock of an island in the Firth of Forth, east Scotland. A large colony of gannets is found there.

Notes:

The gannets are at risk of being killed by the spinning blades of the wind farm, on the coast, beside the rock island where they nest.
