Field Notes

Description:

Small, blue and orange Leafhopper that seems to come in 2 shades of blue, a light sky blue (first 3 pictures) and a darker blue (last 3 pictures). This hopper was very abundant and the lighter blue was somewhat more numerous. About 5 mm long. I think they are both of the same species. Family Cicadellidae.

Habitat:

Came to an ultraviolet light. Finca Argovia, Ruta de Cafe, Soconusco area of southern Chiapas, Mexico. About 1 hour from Tapachula.

Notes:

Based on the reference given by bayucca, this species can also be black and orange! Amazing.
