Field Notes

Description:

30-45 mm wingspan. UP bright yellow in both sexes. In WSF, UPF apex and termen broadly black, the inner edge being unevenly rounded and scalloped. UPH with narrow terminal black border. UNF with a small black spot at end cell. In DSF, FW apex pointed and outer margin sharply cut and straight. UPF has black apex. UPH dark margin reduced or absent. UNH pale yellow densely shaded with brown and pink scales and two straight darker brown shade. Male has brand on HW near base on both sides.

Habitat:

Common on hills as well as plains. Prefers forest clearings and paths. Distinct seasonal dimorphism. Eggs laid singly.
