Description:

Melanargia galathea is a butterfly in the family Nymphalidae. It is found across most of Europe, and it is the one of the 3 in total Melanargia species that can be spotted in Greece (the other 2 species are M. larissa and M. russiae).
The pictured ones were spotted and photographed while foraging on a carduus plant, in Pelion mountain, Greece.
