Field Notes

Description:

Nests in hollow trees and often reduces size of entrance hole by plastering iz with mud. Has a profile of its own, with long, pointed bill, short tail and crouched posture. Climbes head first down trunks, back blue-grey, long black streak through eye, and very loud calls.

Habitat:

Breeds fairly commonly in older decidous wood, in parks and gardens.
