Field Notes

Description:

Large tree to 7m. Covered in clusters of golden yellow flowers. Often used as a street tree for its beautiful flowers and form.

Habitat:

Growing on James Cook University Cairns campus

Notes:

Endemic to Queensland, occurs in Cape York Peninsula and North East QLD. Altitudinal range from near sea level to 600 m. Usually grows as a rheophyte along creeks and watercourses in open forest and rain forest. In the McIlwraith Ranges, this species is found in well developed upland rain forest away from watercourses.
