Field Notes

Description:

This is my first spotting of the northern parula. It is a small songbird with blue-gray hood and wings. Has a Yellow chest with black and reddish band across it. White crescents above and below eyes. Green back. Two white wingbars

Habitat:

Faver Dykes State Park, St Augustine, Florida. Breeds mainly in humid woods where either Usnea or Spanish Moss hangs from the trees. The southern population nests primarily in hanging Spanish moss There is lots of spanish moss in this area.
