Description:
A larger than average toad (2-3") that can be found in many colors ranging from light brown to dark cinnamon. They normally have a symmetric pattern of black spots or splotches spread across the dorsum. There is a very heavy crest beginning over the eye and continuing down the sides of the abdomen nearly to the hind legs.
Habitat:
This is a terrestrial toad that prefers moist solid ground to swampy ground. It is commonly found at night in the Amazon rainforest of SE Ecuador.
Notes:
A very common toad, easily distinguished (once you know what you're looking for) from all other toads except the R. festae, which has a noticeably hooked nose.
