Description:
Typical bumblebee in size, predominantly black, with last three segments of abdomen white, and some rust-colour hair on thorax.
Habitat:
Seen in a small untouched valley which we baptized a "Valley of butterflies". The grassland valley is really very small, not more than 100 at its longest side and completely surrounded by a broad-leaved forest, with a small very clean stream separating the valley from the forest. The valley at the time was full of wildflowers, and insects: we counted at least 8 or 9 different species of butterflies, various bumble-bees, some bees, syrphes, dragon & damselflies etc.
