Field Notes

Habitat:

asleep on a fern in a garden under a light at night

Notes:

file #dotted wing line 9993. The first image is accurate colour and shade. Played dead when placed in container. Looks to be very similar to Dichromodes molybdaria (see references) but enough difference to give it the identification above

That is possible duttagupta. There are several in the references I am using tonight http://lepidoptera.butterflyhouse.com.au/geometridae/geometridae-moths.html That is an Australian site though. I notice your moth has hooked wing tips as well
Oh, I saw one of these too at night https://www.projectnoah.org/spottings/20680151 but it looked totally different. Maybe there are different types of this moth?.....
Another one I suspect will not find an id closer than that
Excellent Eleanor. I will begin my search in "moths" :-D Thank you
