The mute swan, is a species of swan, and a member of the waterfowl family Anatidae. The mute swan, is one of the heaviest flying birds. Young birds, are called cygnets. Common Name: Mute Swan ( Domestic Swan, Wild Swan, and Tame Swan ). Phylum: Chordata Class: Aves Order : Anseriformes Family: Anatidae
Habitat:
Today in the United States, mute swans can be found in lakes, ponds, and estuaries, as far west as Washington State. But the majority of the birds distribution, is limited to the freshwater and estuarine areas of the Northeastern and Midwestern United States. Look for mute swans, in city-park ponds, as well as rivers, lakes, and estuaries. I spotted this mute swan, on Lake Eola.
