Description:
Small bird approx. 15cm, males have colourful purple crowns, where as females have a plain brown head. Unique amongst wrens this species inhabits linear territories in riparian vegetation, relying on dense stands of Pandanus sp. and Cane grass. Inappropraite fire regimes and trampling by feral animals (Cattle, Buffalo, pigs) threaten this species. 2 sub species are recognised, one occurring in the Kimberly's and the other in the gulf region.
