Field Notes

Description:

Juvenile bug to 5mm. Very slow, deliberate, almost mechanical movements when walking. Looking through the camera lens, you can see the orange leg flashes and flattened leg segments. Hard to see with the naked eye.

Yes, I can see why they are called leaf-footed bug now, and it is reflected in the nymph. Thank you J and bayucca for the assistance on the ID. Much appreciated!

This is a Leaf-footed Bug Nymph from the family Coreidae. Nymph ID is always very tricky, because the look usually completely different from the adults and may change shape and colors during their developement.

They look much like Coreidae nymphs to me! Awesome shot!

Thanks for the information Andrea! Btw, the bug remind me of some kind of assassin bug or a stinkbug, but have no idea if it is correct to assume that.
