Field Notes

Description:

About 1.5 cm in length, inconspicuous grey/brown coloration with elytra abruptly narrowing towards the back half of abdomen, giving this weevil an odd shape. Anyone seen a similar looking weevil?

Habitat:

Tropical rainforest in the east of Tanna Island, close to Mt Yasur volcano.

Thanks a lot for your effort! I was getting nowhere trying to ID this guy.
certainly different from the Fiji species, but will belong in same genus - which contains "normal" weevils as well. (took me some time to find out its identity then; second time always easier!)
