Field Notes

Description:

A light brown raptor (probably hawk). It has a white breast with light brown spots. It has a mostly flat head with a slightly hooked beak. It's feet appeared to be yellow with black talons. It's tail feathers are striped with black (or a dark brown) & white.

Habitat:

I have not seen its nest, but it is often perching on high branches watching smaller birds below in a clearing to prey on.

Species ID Suggestions

Comments (1)

Long tail indicated it's an accipiter family. Is it an immature Cooper's or immature Sharp-shinned?
