Field Notes

Description:

7-9 inches. The male Red-winged Blackbird is black with yellow-bordered red shoulder patch. Red is seen when the bird is flying. We have had a flock of them for weeks, but I have not seen any females.

Habitat:

Swamps, marshes, farmland.
