Field Notes

Description:

A lone unidentified ant struggling with a scavenged insect (part). The ant was smaller than an adult weaver ant, perhaps 7 mm long or so.

Habitat:

Observed on a concrete slab near housing situated in a large semi-urban yard and garden, in the equatorial tropics of northern New Guinea.

Notes:

Photographed with flash at just before dusk.
