Habitat:

Living under hickory and walnut trees, among dense overgrown bushes and wildflowers (native and invasive). Land is between a farm and a small residential area.

That's POKE WEED! When less than 8 inches tall, it's edible, and delicious, BUT you need to leach it first. Otherwise TOXIC! I grew up eating it. :)
