Field Notes

Description:

Siberian Ruby Throat is small bird of a size of a house sparrow. It (male) has a bright red spot on its throat which gives its name. Female does not have this red spot. very cute looking tine bird, quite active, hopping on the ground looking for food.
It is said it nests in small bushes near to ground, mostly solitary.

Habitat:

Spotted in a wild life / bird sanctuary in semi dessert bushy area.
It is a migratory bird, breeding in Siberian forest and known to winter in India,Thailand and Indonesia.

Notes:

It hardly flew when spotted, but just hopped around, difficult to believe it flys all the way from Siberia to Indian subcontinent during winter.
