Description:

This poppy produces orange-yellow flowers. Like its congener, it has prickly, tough leaves. When viewed close up, its highly patterned, rounded seeds are gorgeous. —Geobotany.newenglandwild.org

Habitat:

An extremely hardy pioneer plant, it is tolerant of drought and poor soil, often being the only cover on new road cuttings or verges. — Wikipedia
