Habitat:

Looking for breakfast perched on the overhead wires running alongside rice fields

Notes:

I think it's Lanius cristatus ~ Brown Shrike but not sure so if someone could confirm for me I would be grateful

Thanks Lenny! No I don't have any reference books. I try to use the net as much as possible, books are one or more objects to move ... if & when.
OK I think you are right. Have you got a field guide. I can recomend Field Guide to the Birds of Thailand by Craig Robson.
Could be the light Lenny this was taken early this morning. I only have the one pic, which I had to take while astride my motorbike with the engine running. The minute you switch the engine off they're gone, not very obliging for an amateur twitcher like me LOL!! You're Right Viv.Brown shrike. In your picture the crown looks pale grey.If thats the case it's a male Lanius cristatus lucionensis.Or is it just the light.
