Description:
Plant pigmented red; moderate size; stems w/ spiral reinforcing fibrils in cortex, 1-2 pores per cell; branch fascicles with 2-3 spreading and 2-3 pendant. branch leaves with chlorophyllous cells short-elliptic in transverse section, well enclosed on each side
Habitat:
nutrient poor fen. formed an almost continuous lawn to small hummocks in a fully exposed site. Ledum groenlandicum, Sphagnum papillosum, Sphagnum angustifolium were also present intermittently.
