Field Notes

Description:

Grey herons are tall, with long legs, a long beak and grey, black and white feathers. It has a small tuft too.
They stand in the shallow water waiting to hunt a fish, for a long time. In a fraction of a second it grabs its prey and gulps down. It slowly wades through the water and marshy land searching for fish.

Habitat:

Spotted in a bird sanctuary which is a world heritage site.
It is resident water bird, and is said to be found in Europe, Asia and some parts of Africa.

Notes:

It is quite a tall bird, standing in a peculiar style in the picture, probably drying its wings.
