Description:

A dead robberfly infected with sugar icing fungus - 'a fungus that grows naturally in soils throughout the world and acts as a parasite on various arthropod species, causing white muscardine disease'

Habitat:

sub tropical forest

Notes:

I spotted this near Gingers Paradise, first time I've seen it infect a wasp. I also spotted a katydid and grasshopper infected with fungus.

I love this guy with whipped cream
Nice picture - and neat to see an entomopathogenic fungus in action. The insect isn't a wasp - it is actually a big predatory fly. Robber fly in the family Asilidae. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Asilidae
