When the spider was gently touched ,it violently vibrated the web!! This is one of the defense mechanisms. The violent vibrating might shake off or scare off a prey! i found this spider one of the most intelligent spiders that I have seen so far!
there was an article in national geographic about how one of the Cyclosa sp employs spider decoys to attractr predators , Super Smart little organism! http://www.redorbit.com/news/science/111...
Lauren it is because of PN that I started looking at stuff with interest. i would have totally disregarded this for some debris on the web. I decided to google " A line of debris in the middle of the web " andd lo and behold, appears the Trashline spider. On close observation , I spotted the spider in the middle of the web. Tiny guy. Very smart and super fast. Has his kingdom set up for sure!!!!
Great picture Jemma! I have an awful time getting a good picture of these. In fact, haven't yet! :)
