There is more than one species in the genus with this heart pattern. ID pending.
Yeah, Carol I remember. You still have to spot a weevil, maybe this summer? I'm not sure if they are all destructive, some more than others. Thanks for the search Phil, appreciate you spending time on a search. I thought it might be hard to nail down a species or even genus for a lot of these.
I love the heart shape on it's back. These are really tough to nail down as far as species go though. I had no luck after a pretty extensive search.
Cool! You know weevil is on my list to find. Are all weevils destructive? They are interesting looking.
