Can anyone help to identify this black (hairless) large bee?
Thank you NRumbaugh, those all appear to have fuzzy (or hairy) backs. This one was a smooth body bee, didn't appear to be fuzzy like a bumblebee, just big like one. Very shiny black and smooth. I should have included that in the description.
I would guess it is some sort of mason bee - http://bugguide.net/node/view/14967/bgpage
