Field Notes

Description:

Red Knot

Notes:

Due to the lack of crab eggs in the Delaware bay, which are used to make part of bacon, this species is endangered! We need to be conscious about this and watch them. It's a migrant bird, going from almost Tierra del Fuego up to the Artic, where they breed. In an increadible trip of around 9000 km. these birds need food and Delaware bay is critical, as it's their last stop before breeding. If they are not well fed, they die. Plain and simple as that.
