Field Notes

Description:

The forewing is light grey, darker at the root and on the wing's broad transverse band. The band is edged with black, is about twice as wide at the leading edge as at the trailing edge. It has a pointed, V-shaped notch in the middle of the inner edge. The outer edge is strongly wavy. Near the tip of the wing there is a black longitudinal line. It is a moth of the family Geometridae and has a wingspan of 23 – 27 mm.

Habitat:

Resting on the wall in a front porch.
