Field Notes

Description:

I’m used to green lacewing larvae carrying around debris like this, but unsure if this is a lacewing variety. This one was about the size of a ladybug but covered in soft yellow debris (fuzz?). The head and legs were a whitish grey color and hard to catch on photo.

Habitat:

Franconia virginia. Park benches under white oak trees.

Notes:

I avoided this for a while and then forgot to pay attention. It crawled onto my arm and gave me a little bite/pinch.
