Description:

The Capped Heron is a pelecaniformes bird in Ardeidae family, with lenght between 51-59 cm and weighting about 444-632 g. In Brazil, it is also known as "garça-morena","garcinha" and "garça-de-cabeça-preta".

Habitat:

It inhabiting rivers and lakes with forested shores, and wetlands, feeding on mudflats and usually lives alone or, less frequently, in groups of 2 or 3 birds.<br>
I foud this "garça-real" at the lake of Nogueira, in Petrópolis, Rio de Janeiro, where is very common its presence, but despite its wide distribution, it is not abundant in the regions where it occurs.
